Assistant Director

Position: Assistant Director
Type: Full Time

Job Summary:
Playhouse Child Care Center prides itself in making each day count in children’s lives by providing quality care and learning opportunities to prepare each child for school readiness. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director at our Sartell location. The primary objective of the Assistant Director is to act as a classroom teacher along with assisting the Director in running the operations of the Center. This is an ideal position for a motivated individual who has interest in leadership and Administration while learning hands-on. We are looking for an adaptable and proactive person who is able to learn in a stimulating, active environment. Someone who has the passion to work and grow professionally in the Child Care Industry.

Main Job Duties:

  • Responsible to support the Center Director with tasks as assigned related to the overall operations of the Center and with coordinating all aspects of the program to ensure that developmentally appropriate quality Child Care services are provided, and that the philosophy, policies, and procedures are maintained.
  • Knowledge of all positions within the Center and the ability to be flexible to adapt to scheduling needs and the ever-changing needs of the Center. This position will be scheduled weekly room coverage.
  • Is a role model by providing leadership in a professional manner that is respectful to families, staff and the Community.
  • Provides quality customer service and a quality Child Care environment for families enrolled. Communicates effectively with parent’s and guardians regarding their children.
  • Maintains children’s files in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Conducts parent tours and facilitates enrollment paperwork
  • Responsible for completion, approval and reporting of Staff Development Training Records.
  • Assist Center Director with licensing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Maintains and updates the staff board.

Education:

  • 8 Semester Credits related to Child Development

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in Child Care

Qualifications:

  • Meet or strive for DHS Rule 3 Director requirements
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check required by licensing agency
  • Current CPR and First aid certification or ability to obtain as required by licensing agency

Center Director

Position: Center Director

Playhouse Child Care Center is a well-respected early learning childcare organization that is passionate about teaching and caring for young children. Our programs incorporate a fun and interactive environment for staff to teach and children to learn effectively. We are currently seeking a Center Director at our Sartell location. The Center Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Center which includes coordinating all aspects of planning, developing, and managing the Center. The position will ensure total quality management by upholding the highest health, safety and cleanliness standards to facilitate a positive, supportive environment for children, families, and staff. The position requires effective management skills to staff by mentoring, leading and training as well as addressing performance issues. Essential tasks necessary include evaluating classroom structure, daily schedule, and staff’s interactions with children.

The Center Director is in charge of managing all facets of the program so the candidate should be a proactive person who is able to problem-solve and make sound decisions and work to implement solutions. This position is a great opportunity for an individual looking to transition beyond the classroom but still enjoy being a part of a child’s development and care.

Main Job Duties:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Center including biweekly payroll, weekly scheduling of staff to maintain appropriate staff to child ratios.
  • Completes billing weekly and maintains family accounts in Procare to ensure accounts are current and meet policy requirements.
  • Manages staff to ensure performance standards are met including staff orientations and annual performance reviews.
  • Ensures compliance with all licensing and Dept of Health standards.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, Bachelor’s preferred.

Playhouse Child Care Center participates in the Farm to Early Childcare Program by providing fresh produce, meats, and milk from local MN Farms. We are proud to partner with Minnesota Farmers to provide locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as Minnesota-raised turkey and beef to our children at all of our Child Care Centers throughout the year. Our staff is continually researching and expanding on our options of locally grown products.

Job Summary:

Playhouse Child Care Center is looking for a Kitchen Aide/Cook Assistant to serve meals to the children enrolled at our Centers as well as work closely with the Lead Food Service Cook to assist with daily and weekly food preparation and learn the Recipe Scaling process and meal count procedure to ensure required amounts of food are provided for each Center location. This position is responsible for basic kitchen duties.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist cook with daily and weekly food preparation.
  • Responsible for basic kitchen duties: washing dishes, sanitizing, cleaning work area, sweeping and mopping, setting up bins for breakfast, lunch and snack time.
  • Follow policies/procedures as outlined within Food Service and Kitchen Manuals
  • Maintain established standards for proper sanitation, safety, storage and food handling.
  • Adequately maintain kitchen equipment by proper use and sanitation processes.
  • Complete Annual In-service Hour Requirements as written.
  • Serve as a back-up to Centralized Cooking as well as other Center locations if needed.

Secondary Job Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Cook and/or the Director:

  • Assist cook in overall deep cleaning and sanitation of kitchen
  • Assist putting away weekly orders
  • Perform miscellaneous kitchen functions as needed to maintain day to day operations of Playhouse Child Care Center.

Food Service Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-year job related experience preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions from Supervisor and work independently
  • Ability to accept guidance/direction from Administration and work in a team setting.
  • Ability to plan ahead and to multi-task
